How To Decorate Your Apartment For CHEAP!

Sorry if I’ve been a little MIA lately. I just have moved into an apartment in Chicago with my best friend!

This hasn’t been the easiest process and took us a while but we are finally here! I’m so thankful that my friend has already moved into an apartment because I’m such a newbie at this.

Now some of you guys might be moving into places of your own! If you’re planning to live in the city, then you’re probably looking at the listings and realize that you’re probably going to have given away your left kidney to even be close to paying for rent.

You’re probably Pinteresting and realizing there is NO WAY you can make your place look Tumblr worthy and STILL afford rent.

Well, like always, your girl’s gotcha! Here are ways to decorate your apartment for way cheap by using these tips!

MTV welcome to mah crib…

As far as the couch goes, Dana bought this one from her old roommate for $100. Finding couches that are second-hand is going to be your best bet! Post on Facebook to see if someone is selling one OR go to a used furniture store (wash the seats and it will be good as new!)

Don’t throw old throw pillows away! They still work  and are good as new when you move to a new place. All of mine are from Target that I’ve collected through the years.

Add a cute painting (Ikea has cheap ones) to make it look like you have your adult shit together!

The coasters are from Target and they were only $2! and lastly, add a mason jar filled with candy. It just gives your guest something to munch on and plus it looks hella cute.

(Ignore my cat’s toys)

The coffee table was also Dana’s which she bought at a discount furniture store, along with the bookcase for only $30! Those places can be a steal!

BIG TIP: Wal-Mart is going to be your best friend! I got the entertainment center for only $50! Also that rug is from Wal-mart as well and was also hella cheap! It’s a kinda gross store but you can find home decor for less than Target.

Fill the space with cute candles, knick knacks, and books/records.

Psst..the kid’s room decor section at Target is the place to be!

I bought this lamp in the kids section and it was CHEAPER than the lamps in the reguakr home section!

I bought this side table on Amazon for about $40 which is nothing compared to what you would have to spend at Ikea. Add cute candles and your Cosmos to make it a comfy place!  Then add a key bowl to be organized so you and your bestie won’t lose them in a pile of clothes when you’re rushing out the door.

If you’re looking for another chair in your living space, again, try a used furniture store or discount one. Dana got this for only $60.

So I spend too much time on Pinterest and I knew I wanted a booze cart before Dana and I even found a place!

I found the cart on Target and my brother was sweet to get this for me on birthday. This cart is small but you really don’t need those extravagant drink carts. This only cost about $40. I ended up buying all the straws, coasters, ice bucket, and even the flowers all in the dollar section of Target! I went to the Dollar Store and found all the glasses we would need PLUS cute cactus shot glasses and cute mini umbrellas!

*The Dollar Store is heaven*

The sign I found at Target and I flirted with the employee and got it for only $17 even though I’m sure it wasn’t. Do I feel bad for doing it? Nah, I got a cheap cute sign out of it haha.

Also, yes we did put a vine quote on there because why the hell not? It’s our house!

I found this on Pinterest and I instantly fell in love because both my bestie and I are addicted to caffeine. This Keurig tray is so cute and a great way to organize your coffee needs when you’re not ready to be up.

*Mug is from Amazon*

I was lucky because my birthday was around the time I was getting ready to move into my new place so all my birthday money and gifts had to revolve around my new place. I was very lucky!

I got this comforter from Target for $60 which isn’t too bad. The pillows are also from Target and Wal-mart but most of them I’ve had from previous years.

I also really wanted to make this room very cozy so finding a canopy was must! I found this at Ikea for only $30. I added the lights for a little extra.

I have sunken in windows and not a pretty view so I thought I’d leave it up to me to make it look adorable. I just added cute succulents and candles and my buddha. You can’t see them, but I have little cactus candles around the window and they were only $3 at Target!

My fave part of my room!

I got the rack from Ikea for only 12 FUCKING DOLLARS!

The Nasty Woman sign is from Etsy and that was only $10!

I repainted my dresser (which saved me from buying one) and I found this cute idea off Pinterest! I bought scrapbook paper and mod podged it! It ended up being super cute and barely cost a thing!

Another window that I made cute! Also you can’t tell but those lights are pizza lights! Only cost $2!

The desk I bought at flee market! It was a while back but this is another idea of a place to get furniture. Someone refurbished it and it looks amazingly vintage!

Also this is the best decoration idea that only costs you a dollar! Buy frames at the dollar store and then print off cute downloads and there ya go!
